Here are the before curtains:
And here's the after:
The best part about this project was picking up the fabric at a thrift shop for, get this...$9.00 (that's NINE DOLLARS!). Yay me!! They look so nice with my burnt caramel wall, and I just fell in love with the funky design.
I paid more for the grommets than the fabric, imagine that! (Even with a 50% off coupon)
At Hobby Lobby next to the grommets they have free "how to" flyers, one of which was grommet top curtains. It broke down how to determine where to place your grommets in a very simple way. I could have figured it out on my own, yes, but the simplicity of filling in the blanks with your measurements was so nice!
My only setback was that I had JUST enough material. Any less and these curtains would have been throw pillows and place mats. If you look hard enough (please don't), you'll be able to see that I had to drop the curtain rod about 6 inches, which took a bit of time and some touch up paint.
I cannot WAIT to make more curtains with my own two hands, what a feeling of accomplishment!
Yay Jamie! They look awesome! :0)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. They look awesome.
ReplyDeleteGreat JOB! I personally think the dropped rod looks much better!
ReplyDeleteOnce again you have amazed me with your creative talent. I love the fabric & I like the dropped curtain much better actually. Keep this up & you can pitch your own Design show to HGTV. -Shelley Beesley
